Hillier Recognized For
Leadership
MARQUETTE — Jay Hillier, certi- fied insurance counselor at VAST in Marquette, was recently recognized for professional leadership and advanced knowledge by the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors, a leading national insurance profession- al organization.
Hillier was awarded a certificate marking more than 15 years of partic- ipation as a designated CIC, which requires annual completion of advanced education and training, according to a press release from VAST.
Hillier’s ongoing allegiance and sup- port of the CIC program is a testa- ment to the value he places on “real world” education and customer satis- faction, the release states.
“Your clients, associates, and the insurance profession as a whole will benefit from such dedication and leadership,” Dr. William T. Hold, president of the CIC society, said in the release.

Excell 2018 Conference
Tracy Thompson, owner of Hiawatha Chef Supply of Escanaba and Appleton, is among nearly 450 who attended Excell Marketing & Procurement Group’s 2018 Annual Conference last month in Tucson, Arizona.
The Wild West-themed conference attracted representatives of 119 deal- erships and 125 manufacturers to the JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort and Spa April 10-14. Thompson met with individuals from each of the manufacturers exhibiting at the event, and went to Excell’s annual dealer meeting. He also competed in the cor-
responding Cooking Up Better Lives (http://cookingupbetterlives.org/) charity golf tournament on the cham- pionship courses at the resort’s Starr Pass Golf Club.
Hiawatha Chef Supply has been a member of the Denver, Colorado- based Excell Marketing & Procurement Group since 2005. Commonwealth
MARQUETTE — Rich Tegge, an independent financial adviser affiliat- ed with Commonwealth Financial Network and president of Wealth Strategy Group in Marquette, has achieved Commonwealth Business Experience status for 2017.
This distinction recognizes success based on a ranking of annual produc- tion among Commonwealth’s net- work of 1,710 financial advisers, according to a news release.

Truck Driving Program
MARQUETTE - Meijer donated two reconditioned semi-trucks and trailers to NMU’s new CDL Truck Driving Program.
“Meijer strives to be a good neighbor throughout the communities we serve, and are pleased our retired vehi- cles will be put to good use by Northern Michigan University stu- dents learning a very important skill,” Marquette Meijer Store Director John Spaulding said.
“This is an extraordinary gift that will hep launch an educational pro- gram to meet high industry demand,” NMU President Fritz Erickson said. “We thank Meijer for this investment, and for its faith in Northern to train the highest-quality CDL drivers for Meijer and other companies through- out the region.”
